    With the 2005 controls, does the viewer utilize SOAP? We are working on a deployment, but will have to write our own custom tool to handle drilldown in SOAP. (VS 2003/1.1.) I wonder if 2005 will provide complete SOAP functionality since our report server won't be accessible by URL.

    Yes, the controls perform all operations through the SOAP API. You do not need to expose the Report Server via URL.
