Windows Phone 7 Unveiled!
Microsoft, along with about 60 mobile operators in more than 30 countries, announced the availability of the first Windows Phone 7 devices. With the general availability slated for Nov. 8 in the United States, these highly anticipated devices have already received a lot of buzz. Boston Globe technology reporter Hiawatha Bray recently reviewed a HTC Surround, and he calls the phone and software “sleek and powerful.” Check out his article and video review here!
With Windows Phone 7, Microsoft brings together the things people really want to do on their mobile devices, creating an immersive experience. In essence, the phone delivers an entirely new user experience, creating a balance between productivity, social connection and entertainment.
So what are the highlights?
Each phone has six "hubs" for doing things more efficiently: People, Games, Music+Video, Pictures, Marketplace and Office. Through the People hub, for example, users can call or text their contacts, look at their Facebook profiles, send e-mail or check Twitter updates without having to drill down through separate applications. Hiawatha sums it up perfectly saying that the phone is “superbly social.”
The hubs also integrate with Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Office Mobile and the Zune music experience. With all of the customization features of the phones, we’re excited to see how people take Windows Phone 7 and make it their own. The experience is totally up to you.
