Young Starters’ Competition Now Open

cea 2

Young Queensland entrepreneurs aged 15 to 24 can learn how to be successful entrepreneurs or build on their existing business skills by joining the Young Starters’ Competition.

The competition encourages participants to complete a number of entrepreneurial activities, helping them get their ideas investor ready, then tweet their involvement to earn competition points. Initial challenges will include things like designing a website, developing an app or teaching code to others.

An Advance Queensland twitter-bot will act as an electronic ‘umpire’ for the competition, assessing interest, assigning points and monitoring participant progress.

The competition is free to join and does not require a separate user registration process.

Competition leaders will be invited to submit a pitch video and be in the running for prizes and the opportunity to present their ideas to investors at a pitching event, scheduled to be held in June 2017.

The Young Starters’ Competition is designed to provide a pathway for young people with enterprising minds to gain valuable business experience and skills.

It’s important young people are encouraged to see business and entrepreneurship as a stimulating and rewarding career choice.

The Advance Queensland Young Starters’ program has two parts, a fund and the annual state-wide competition, which both offer an exciting opportunity to unleash the entrepreneurial potential of Queensland’s young people so that they can make a lasting contribution to the future prosperity of our state.

Young Starters is part of the $24 million Advance Queensland Startup Queensland initiative.

Young Queenslanders interested in the competition should visit advance.qld.gov.au/yscomp and follow the instructions on how to join in.
