Happy 25th Birthday Windows (tomorrow)
On November 20th, 1985 Windows 1.0 launched. It fit on just two double-sided floppy disks and needed 256K of RAM – although you needed 512K if you wanted to actually run more than one program at a time.
Within a year it had some incredible new features like postscript printer drivers and MS-DOS 3.2 support! And check out this beeeeaaaauuuutiful grill:
Man, that looked sweet
It wasn’t until Windows 3.0 that things really started to take off and NT where we had an architectural version you would recognize today – but this is where it all began. So play a game of Reversi and let your thoughts return to the years of 16-bit tiled shell cooperative multi-tasking.
Then you can use your Windows Phone 7 to watch high definition movies streamed from NetFlix while you wait for your boss to email you some stupid presentation while cruising at 35,000 feet.
Happy birthday Windows!

PS: Windows also has the same birthday as my brother. Almost 30, Nick! :)
