New ADO.NET Team Members - Part 1

My name is Diego Vega and I joined the Entity Framework team in last October. I am the new Program Manager working on LINQ to Entities & Databinding.

My background is in software development and before coming to Microsoft I worked for ISVs and small software companies for a long time. It is a great time to have a role in this team both because of the remarkable technology we are soon shipping, and for the many opportunities to advance our platform I can see ahead.

I would love to hear from people using or evaluating our data access technologies, learn what they like and what we can do to make their lives easier. Please, stop by my new blog at MSDN: https://blogs.msdn.com/diego.

Hi Diego, Is there a synchronized roadmap between ADO.NET Entities and SQL Server 2008? Meaning, will ADO.NET Entities becomes RTM when SQL Server 2008 RTM is released? Also, if we have more details on the ADO/SQL2008 CTPs (how many more CTPs) and RTM estimated release date, that will be great. Thank you, Tony

When is Beta 3 to be released and when is the estimated release date?  Is it Jan, Feb or Mar?  Thanks. Chad

@Tony: Both teams usually work together to make sure we support new features, but we are really not having a synchronized roadmap. Our planned final releases are not too far apart, though. On the Entity Framework side, we are releasing Beta 3 really, really soon. Please, watch this blog for future announcements on ADO.NET product schedules. I don't know of a better place to go than http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/ for SQL Server 2008 announcements.

@Chad: As I said to Tony, Beta 3 is really, really soon. I hope you will like it :) We plan Entity Framework RTM for the first half of 2008. Sorry I can't give you more details but we care much about our customer's expectations.

We can be even more specific about the Beta 3 date: some time this week. Scott Guthrie let the cat out of the bag: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/11/29/net-web-product-roadmap-asp-net-silverlight-iis7.aspx
