Exercise - Set up the Sales and Inventory Forecast extension
This exercise uses the CRONUS sample company from the US version of Business Central. You might need to adjust the steps if you use the sample company from your country or region.
Scenario
The Sales and Inventory Forecast extension uses Cortana Intelligence to analyze historical data to predict future demand so that you can base procurement decisions on accurate and reliable forecasts. Using this extension can help your company avoid lost revenue, optimize shipping costs, discover trends, and boost your brand reputation by always delivering on orders. In this exercise, you'll set up the Sales and Inventory Forecast extension.
Steps
In Business Central, use the Settings icon and open My Settings.
On the My Settings screen, select Accountant in the Role text box.
The Accountant Role Center opens.
Select the Search for page icon, which opens the Tell Me feature, enter Sales and Inventory Forecast Setup, and then select the related link.
Select Update Forecast. Enter information in the fields, as shown in the following screenshot.
A message appears explaining that the sales forecasts are being updated in the background. This update process might take a few minutes.
After a few minutes, refresh the screen. The Last Run Completed and Used Processing Time fields should contain values.
Open the Item List page, and then select an item in the list. The Forecast FactBox should now contain data.
To change the forecast settings, use the menu in the Forecast FactBox.
When you select Forecast Settings, the Sales and Inventory Forecast Setup page opens. Enter information in the fields, as shown in the following screenshot.
You have now set up the Sales and Inventory Forecast extension.
