Removed and Deprecated Features for Configuration Manager

This topic describes features, products, and operating systems that are removed from support with System Center 2012 Configuration Manager or will be removed in a future update (Deprecated). This is intended to provide early warning about future changes that might affect your use of Configuration Manager.

Microsoft products and operating systems that are listed as deprecated are either in extended support or have reached end of life. Microsoft products and operating systems that are listed as deprecated are still tested with current versions of Configuration Manager until they are beyond their Microsoft support lifecycle.

Features and tools deprecated with System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP2 and System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager SP1
Beginning with these releases, the following features are deprecated, which means that they are still available but might be completely removed in a future update to Configuration Manager. You should begin planning to implement alternate methods for dependent applications, code, or usage.
Out of Band Management
Configuration Manager has deprecated Out of Band Management. Support for new Intel AMT firmware versions is not planned.
The firmware versions listed in the Out of Band Management section of the supported configurations content might continue to work but are no longer tested with the product.

Network Access Protection
Configuration Manager has deprecated Network Access Protection. The feature has been deprecated in Windows Server 2012 R2 and is removed from Windows 10.
Configuration Manager still allows the installation of NAP specific site system roles on a Windows Server operating system that supports NAP.
For operating systems that do not support NAP, like Windows 10 and higher, you must configure a non-NAP capable policy on the Network Policy Server (NPS) that allows full network access. For information see the Configuring a network policy for non-NAP capable clients section in Configuring NAP on the Network Policy Server (NPS).
Without a non-NAP capable policy, any NAP capable machines that upgrade to Windows 10 (or that run an operating system that does not support NAP), will be placed in quarantine. Machines that do not support NAP do not run the NAP client and cannot submit a statement of health (SOH).

System Center Configuration Manager Upgrade Assessment Tool
The Upgrade Assessment Tool depends on both System Center Configuration Manager and the Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) 6.x. The final version of ACT was shipped in the Windows 10 v1511 ADK. As there will be no further updates to ACT, support for the Upgrade Assessment Tool will be discontinued after July 11, 2017. For the current branch version of Configuration Manager the Upgrade Assessment Tool will be replaced by the Upgrade Analytics feature (currently in preview). Deprecation notice was added to the download page for UAT on 9/12/2016.
System Center Configuration Manager Cmdlet Library
Support for the Cmdlet Library for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP2 and System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager SP1 will be discontinued after July 11, 2017, The Cmdlet Library is integrated with the current branch for System Center Configuration Manager and will be updated and supported according to the servicing policies for that branch.
