IEventProvider.Terminate Method

Stops and disables the event provider.

Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.NotificationServices
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.NotificationServices (in microsoft.sqlserver.notificationservices.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Sub Terminate
void Terminate ()
void Terminate ()
void Terminate ()
function Terminate ()

Remarks

The provider host calls this method to stop and disable the event provider.

In the Terminate method, the event provider must stop collecting new events, write any pending events to the application database, release any resources it is holding, and return from the Terminate method call.

If the event provider does not return from the Terminate method call within one minute, the provider host stops the event provider unconditionally.

If the Terminate method fails to handle an exception, the provider host logs the unhandled error, and the event provider is terminated.

To start collecting events again, enable the event provider.

Example

For an example of how to implement the Terminate method, see the IEventProvider topic.
