How to: Set up Developer Computers for Version Control Using Visual SourceSafe

Do as follows to set up the developer and administrator computers to use Microsoft Visual SourceSafe (VSS) for version control in Microsoft Dynamics AX.
To complete the following task you will need:
To install prerequisite software.
To connect the VSS client to the VSS server database.
To install the prerequisite software on developer and administrator computers

Install Microsoft SQL Server. See https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=113164&clcid=0x409 for system requirements.
Install Microsoft Dynamics AX. See https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=162928 for access to the Microsoft Dynamics AX Installation Guide.
Install the VSS client. See https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=163105 for installation instructions.
To connect the VSS client to the VSS server database
In VSS, click File > Open SourceSafe database.
Click Add, and then click Next.
Select the Connect to an existing database option, and then click Next.
Type the path of the VSS database folder on the server, click Next two times, and then click Finish.
Click Open.
