A default file, also known as a directory index file or home page, is the Web page that users reach when they type a site URL that does not contain a specific file name in the Address box of their browser. For example, users reach the www.microsoft/default.htm page when they type either www.microsoft.com or www.microsoft.com/default.htm in the Address box of their browser Web log files. However, you count the two URLs as hits to two different pages.
For more information, see How to Configure the Default Web Site Properties for Import.
Note
After you configure the default files, you must run the Configuration synchronization DTS task to synchronize your site configuration with the Data Warehouse before importing data into the Data Warehouse. For information about how to run the Configuration synchronization DTS task, see How to Run the Configuration Synchronization DTS Task. For non-Internet Information Services (IIS) servers, the default settings are Index.html, Index.htm, and Default.htm. If these settings are incorrect for your site, change them to make sure that your request count will be accurate.
