Marketing Direct Mailer Page

For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.

Use the MarketingDirect Mailer page to configure the following:

  • The computer and database name of the computer that is running SQL Server to use for the Direct Mailer Service.

  • The type of authentication and credentials to use to access the Direct Mailer database.

  • The Windows account to run the Direct Mailer service.

Aa545699.alert_caution(en-US,CS.70).gifImportant Note:

The MarketingDirect Mailer page does not set up DCOM permissions for the Direct Mailer Service. This must be done manually by the site administrator using the DCOMCnfg Microsoft Management Console. Accounts that are allowed to access the Direct Mailer Service, such as the MarketingWebService identity or the site administrator account, should be given "launch/activation" and access permissions to use the Direct Mailer service.

Configuring the Direct Mailer Service will also create the DML_SG Windows user group that has the necessary permissions to run the Direct Mailer Service. The Windows account that is set up as the Direct Mailer Service identity will be added to this group.

Note

If you select SQL Server Authentication, you must verify that the Login Name and Password you enter are valid. If you select Windows Authentication, you must make sure that your account, the user who is running the Configuration Wizard, has appropriate permissions to access the computer that is running SQL Server. In either case, the user should have administrative rights on the computer that is running SQL Server. In addition, if the administration database does not already exist on the computer that is running SQL Server, the Wizard will try to create it. In this case, the user running the Configuration Wizard must have "create database" permissions on the computer that is running SQL Server.
