Install SQL Server and Windows Azure Pack
Applies To: Windows Azure Pack
Before you configure your Windows Azure Pack deployment for high availability, you must first set up the Microsoft SQL Server management database and deploy a distributed environment of Windows Azure Pack.
Set up the SQL Server management database
- First, you have to set up an instance of SQL Server for the Windows Azure Pack management databases. Use failover clustering to enable high availability. Name this server WAPSQL.yourdomain.com.
Install a distributed deployment of Windows Azure Pack
Install a distributed deployment of Windows Azure Pack as described in Install a distributed deployment of Windows Azure Pack. Use the high availability naming conventions by adding "01" to the end of the machine names. This naming convention enables you to identify each pair of virtual machine names as "name01" and "name02" while your load balancer is just named "name". For example, here are the example names for a full high availability deployment.
Make sure to record the configuration database passphrase because you use it extensively in the steps to enable high availability for Windows Azure Pack.
