  • Get information about a distributed installation with the Get-MgmtSvcAdminUser cmdlet

  • Get usage data from a new VMM or Service Provider Foundation installation

Configure usage metering?

Pertains to: Manage tenant costs for Windows Azure Pack

Get information about a distributed installation with the Get-MgmtSvcAdminUser cmdlet

Pertains to: Windows Azure Pack for Windows Server Automation with Windows PowerShell

Issue

Need to use the Windows PowerShell command Get-MgmtSvcAdminUser across a distributed Windows Azure Pack installation. The command returns a network-related or instance-specific error that occurred while establishing a connection to SQL server.

Recommendation

The command is missing the database. Try the following command where default database name will be replaced in the connection string.

Get-MgmtSvcAdminUser -Server SQL -User sa -Pasword password

Get usage data from a new VMM or Service Provider Foundation installation

Pertains to: Manage tenant costs

Issue

The usage data is lost after a move to a new installation of System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager or Service Provider Foundation.

Recommendation

This is a known limitation. You also cannot more usage data to a different cloud. If a change is necessary, we recommend deleting all subscriptions and plans and then re-recreating them after the move.
