Install the .NET Framework
These releases contain the latest updates to the managed code programming model for Windows. Requirements for the Windows Server AppFabric hosting and caching features are shown in the following table.

* The integrated version of the .NET Framework will also be enabled when these features (Hosting Services and Hosting Administration) are selected. (In Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 the integrated version of the .NET Framework is version 3.0; in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the integrated version of the .NET Framework is version 3.5 SP1.)
** On Windows Server 2008, if you need to run scripts for cache configuration, or if you want to run cache configuration cmdlets from any PowerShell console, install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Note that .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is automatically installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.
*** Your .NET Framework version selection for the Cache Client will depend on the application that you are planning to host, and whether the application is targeting the .NET Framework 3.5 or the .NET Framework 4.
**** Additional functionality will be available if you install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for Cache Administration.

Note
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed with Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. .NET Framework 4 is installed with Visual Studio 2010.
