TechNet networking topics updated to address your feedback

In this blog post, I described how you can provide us with feedback on our topics through the Click to Rate and Give Feedback box for our topics on TechNet and MSDN.

I am pleased to report that I recently updated the following topics within the Networking node of TechNet based on your comments:

· Chapter 3 – IP Addressing of the TCP/IP Fundamentals for Microsoft Windows online book

Technical correction: I changed “Therefore, the range of addresses for the address prefix 192.168.16.0/20 is 192.168.16.1 to 192.168.21.254” to “Therefore, the range of addresses for the address prefix 192.168.16.0/20 is 192.168.16.1 to 192.168.31.254”.

· Chapter 6 - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol of the TCP/IP Fundamentals for Microsoft Windows online book

Technical clarity: In “"If the value of the Giaddr (Gateway IP Address) field in the DHCP header of the DHCPDiscover message is 0.0.0.0 (as set by the originating DHCP client), changes the value of the IPv4 address of the interface on which the DHCPDiscover message was received.”, I changed “of” to “to.”

Technical correction: I changed “DHCPDecline (sent from server to client)” to “DHCPDecline (sent from client to server).”

· Chapter 11 - NetBIOS over TCP/IP of the TCP/IP Fundamentals for Microsoft Windows online book

Technical correction: I changed two instances of “TCP/IP over NetBIOS” to “NetBIOS over TCP/IP.”

· Introduction to IPv6

Technical correction: I changed “an upgrade of the current version of the Internet Protocol (IP), called IPv4, has been standardized” to “an upgrade of the current version of the Internet Protocol (IP), called IPv6, has been standardized”

· IPv6 Security Considerations and Recommendations

Technical correction: I changed "Teredo traffic is IPv6 traffic tunneled using an IPv6 header and UDP port 3544" to "Teredo traffic is IPv6 traffic tunneled using an IPv4 header and UDP port 3544."

· Microsoft Windows 2000 TCP/IP Implementation Details

Technical correction: I changed multiple references of “MaxUserPort” to “MaxUserPorts.”

· New Networking Features in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista

Broken links: I fixed two links for Scalable Networking and Teredo resources.

Technical correction: I changed a reference from IIS 6.0 to IIS 7.0.

The moral of the story? We really do track this feedback and make changes to our content!

If you see something that needs to be corrected or clarified, please let us know by describing the specific problems and the changes that need to be made in the Click to Rate and Give Feedback box.

Thanks in advance.
