See Windows Vista's Speech Recognition In Action
You've no doubt heard about the Microsoft Financial Analyst Meeting two weeks ago where a demonstration of Windows Vista’s speech recognition technology didn’t quite go as planned. This was due to a very particular issue that caused voice recognition to fail, but nevertheless was not identified until after the demonstration. As they say, "no good demo goes unpunished."
MS' own Larry Osterman posted on his blog explaining the issue and its cause. Check out Larry's explanation of the situation here.
Likewise, Long Zheng, blogger at istartedsomething.com, has created a screencast demonstrating that speech recognition in windows Vista actually does work -- and quite well at that. Check out Long’s screencast, where he highlights improvements in dictation and voice command. In his demo, he shows how you can browse the Web simply by using speech commands. Speech recognition is an integral part of Windows Vista and is included by default in every version.

arknu: Not that I'm aware, at least at this point. Speech recognition is available in these languages: U.S. English, U.K. English, traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Japanese, German, French and Spanish. But you never know what might occur after release.
