More Facts on Shadow Copy
Following up on my post from earlier this month on Shadow Copy in Windows Vista: The other day tech news site The Inquirer caught up with Dan Stevenson, Lead Program Manager on the Windows Storage and File Systems Team, to discuss System Protection's Shadow Copy feature in Windows Vista.
Dan explains how Shadow Copy works in the new OS and provides a few more details on the mechanics and frequency of creating incremental copies of files. Rather than creating a file every time Shadow Copy wants to back up a file, it instead "only creates a backup of changes using a driver that tracks changes at the block level across the entire disk volume using a copy-on-write mechanism."
