We got a bunch of people together in a room today to brainstorm topics for the Windows Mobile track of MEDC (some stuff that would fall under other tracks also came up but we tried to focus on Windows Mobile today).  Below are the (mostly uncensored) notes collected from this meeting.  So what looks most interesting?  What's missing (with emphasis on things specific to Pocket PC & Smartphone)?  Your feedback will shape this event.  If you are interested in speaking on a topic (maybe even one of the ones below) check out the Call For Paper.

    I was meaning to brainstorm some ideas, this is a big help. It gives me some ideas for smartphone/windows mobile papers i can do.

    Hey, we made the list! Huzzah to that!

    I better get my thinking hat on and come up with some , eh? Here's a few ideas streaming out right now:

    * VSD extensibility/automation in VS 2005.
    * Interop best practices
    * Distributed mobile computing/mobile P2P
    * SDLC for devices

    There's more to come, for sure.

    I like the photo blogging with location idea. Would give me a chance to use my new iMate SP3i and PDA2K.

    * Desiging application for multiple platforms (Smartphone, PPC, PPC Phone Edition). Can use the photo blogging idea for this ;)
    * Intrumentation for .NET CF Applications (Wrote an article and library on this and should be going on MSDN soon)
    * Using OpenNETCF and P&P for .NET CF
    * Creating visually applealing CF Applications

    Hopefully this weekend i can come up with more.

    The list looks great. I would add one topic that I am working on for a product. The topic is podcast creation from the mobile device. Details are that I am building a PPC app that will allow people to record from their devices and automatically upload the sound file to be podcasted immediately (along with the typical blogging functionality). I would love to speak on the topic if you guys think it would be valuable. Get back to me.

    That is a great list of topics. I would definitely second Rob on having two sessions on the new native and managed APIs, there is a lot of really exciting stuff listed there and it would be great to go into detail.

    I like the idea of the photo blogging application to demonstrate a number of techniques. But perhaps also something to demonstrate location awareness within a real-life business application too.

    Best practises for partially connected situations both in terms of the different network technologies available and the data storage and synchronisation options.

    I like Mark's suggestion above of "Creating visually applealing CF Applications" this could incorporate skinning, custom controls, graphics and animation and perhaps audio feedback as well.

    Deploying enterprise applications - there are a number of techniques and tools and all have their gotchas.

    What about a bit of peer-to-peer irda/bluetooth: location awareness, ota deployment, interacting with other devices on standard profiles, implementing custom profiles...

    advanced debugging. Using kernel debugger to debug OS. Using pdb and map files to help locate problems. Getting to the source code from an exception address etc ....


    I have talked to many people at the last three devcons and most were very interested in something like this.
