Sunday Surprise: TechNet Wiki Ninjas at MVP Global Summit

MVP logoAs you probably know, Microsoft Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) play an active role in both the TechNet Wiki and the Wiki Ninjas blog. I chronicled this a few months ago in an article I posted here entitled MVP authors & contributors.

A benefit of being an MVP is that you receive an invitation to MVP Global Summit. According to Microsoft, “The MVP Global Summit is a multi-day event that is hosted in Bellevue and at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington. With a large catalog of technical sessions (offered only in English) and a variety of networking opportunities, the MVP Global Summit enables MVPs to connect with other MVPs, build relationships with Microsoft product managers, and provide feedback on Microsoft products and technologies.”

This year, MVP Global Summit was from November 7-10, 2016. During the event, there was plenty of time outside the technical sessions to meet and network with other MVPs. There was also excellent representation from a variety of TechNet Wiki MVPs from around the world including:

We had an opportunity for an informal meeting on the Sunday evening before sessions began. We were all jet lagged but met up at a local bar to have a few drinks and to get acquainted.

During the weekdays we saw each other in the halls and on the Monday evening we also ran into one another at a large welcome reception for the MVPs. As well, Pedro had the awesome idea of identifying ourselves with ninja stickers. They generated lots of inquiries by the other attendees and it was a great opportunity to talk about the TN Wiki.

We also congregated on campus on the Wednesday afternoon so we could meet with Ed Price. Ed came over from his building on campus and we chatted for a while about the Wiki and how our MVP Summit experiences were going. It was a fun time and I find Ed’s passion for the Wiki always gives me the enthusiasm to contribute.

I am already looking forward to next year’s MVP Global Summit. We discussed plans to create TN Wiki Ninja t-shirts to promote the site and to have another informal meet up during MVP Global Summit 2017. If you are a TechNet Wiki MVP, consider meeting up with us!

      @Alex mang, we have a chat on Skype for all TechNet Wiki MVPs. If you are not there then please contact Ed Price, or send me your Skype username, so we will add you to the group. This is how everyone communicated before the summit, during the summit and after the summit :-)

    Nice write up, Ken. It is great to let others know that we are very active and encourages more MVPs to be part of the Wiki Ninjas community. I really enjoyed to catch up at MVP Summit and get to know each other better in person. :)

    Great post Ken :-)I hope I will have the chance to meet you all next year. It was fun to follow you all on Skype during the summit, but it's not same as meet you in person.
