This new version of vConverter moves the product from an occasional-use migration utility to a daily application that can greatly increase the IT professional's ability to respond to the needs of the business, whether it's disaster recovery or improved resource-allocation flexibility," said George Crump, senior analyst, Storage Switzerland, an IT analyst firm focused on the storage and virtualization segments. "This new solution should now be considered a must-have for every server virtualization environment."
vConverter now enables the conversion of physical systems into an image file on virtual servers within either Hyper-V or VMware environments as well as within mixed environments. Administrators can also convert virtual machines between VMware and Hyper-V systems. The new virtual-to-physical recovery capability allows administrators to restore virtual images onto physical systems. This means that physical systems can be converted, protected, replicated and recovered on virtual systems with the option to recover the images back to physical systems.
"Administrators managing both Hyper-V and VMware platforms can now safeguard physical systems and data within their virtual infrastructure by deploying just one solution that offers physical-to-virtual-to-physical protection," said Mike Coffman, vice president, server virtualization products, Quest Software. "This latest version of vConverter is the first solution in our data protection portfolio to support Hyper-V."
vConverter Benefits:
-- Converts physical systems into virtual machines (VM) quickly and easily
-- Converts VM images between VMware and Hyper-V platforms
-- Recovers physical systems from virtual machine images
-- Enables physical systems to be converted, protected, replicated and recovered on virtual systems and physical systems
-- Applies image-based data protection to physical systems
-- Unifies protection and recovery of physical and virtual systems
-- Leverages virtual infrastructures for physical data protection
-- Allows for the flexible adoption of strategies for virtual servers
-- Facilitates trouble-shooting of physical systems with virtual infrastructure

Yeah, I remember saving the neck of a new colleague at a new place of work with that tech, not quite 3 months now, yeah about 3 months ago; and you know that earns you some reps. The guy was in a total fix about a production server, and along came me with all my VM and packaging expertise. Well, he got introduced into VM too (a shock to me, I mean VM is like everywhere y'know, well I learnt not to take a tech am all 101% used to for granted, some just don't know about it). Well, we got that server converted toa VM, huge massive stuff!!! Resulted in some performance issues on the virtualized platform, after a bit of thinkings and tweakings, the production infrastructure is doing smoothly now. Virtualization takes the effort off your heels, believe me. It's top of my choicest techs.
