Introducing the new Data Protection Manager Integration Pack Activities
*Note that the information in this article is based on the Beta of this Integration Pack and is subject to change. This information will be refreshed when the Integration Pack is RTM.
The table below explains the Activities that are available with the new Opalis 6.3 Integration Pack for Data Protection Manager.
Activity | Description |
Create Recovery Point | The Create Recovery Point object is used to create a backup for a selected data source. This object allows you to create a Recovery Point outside of the DPM scheduled interval as configured for a Protection Group. The behavior is synchronous - the activity will run for as long it takes for DPM to complete the action. This object can also be used to force creation of an initial replica. |
Get Data Source | The Get Data Source object retrieves information about Data Sources from either a Production Server (a computer with the DPM Protection Agent installed) or from a Protection Group ( a named entity that holds the backup policy for a workload). A Data Source is a Workload that is currently protected or will be protected by DPM. When the Get Data Source object is used in a protection scenario, you select a Production Server, which is the default. When this object is used in a recovery scenario, you will select a Protection Group, or the Production server can be used as well. This object returns the Data Source ID (DataSourceId) which is used in all activities except Get DPM Server Capacity |
Get DPM Server Capacity | The Get DPM Server Capacity object is used to configure a policy that queries a Data Protection Manager server for its available free storage capacity, so that you can determine the placement of backup data. |
Get Recovery Point | The Get Recovery Point object is used to configure a policy that queries a Data Source for all of its associated recovery points or just the most recent recovery point. |
Protect Data Source | The Protect Data Source object is used to protect a workload by adding a Data Source to an existing Protection Group. A Protection Group is a named entity that holds the backup policy for a workload. |
Recover SharePoint | The Recover SharePoint object is used to configure a policy that recovers a SharePoint Farm (configuration and data) to its original location or to a network folder. |
Recover SQL | The Recover SQL object is used to configure a policy that recovers a SQL database to its original location or to a network folder. |
Recover VM | The Recover VM object is used to configure a policy that recovers a VM from a specified point in time so that it can be restored to a Hyper-V host or to a Network Folder. |
