Office File Validation for Office 2003 and Office 2007

Office File Validation, a Microsoft Office 2010 security feature, is now available for both Office 2003 and Office 2007. We strongly recommend that Office File Validation be applied to all computers that use Office 2003 and Office 2007. However, Office File Validation, in combination with Protected View, offers an even better security experience. Protected View is a new security feature that is available only in Office 2010.

For more information regarding Office File Validation for Office 2003 and Office 2007 see the following article on Microsoft TechNet: Office File Validation for Office 2003 and Office 2007.

The Office File Validation Add-in (KB2501584) for Office 2003 and Office 2007 is available on the Microsoft Download Center here.

Hi Penko, based on your description of the problem it appears that users are opening Excel workbooks across the network while Office File Validation is enabled. If this is the case then you could follow the instructions of method #3 included in the Article ID: 2570623 (Excel 2003 Office File Validation (OFV) opens workbooks slower across the network), located here: support.microsoft.com/.../2570623. This will remove the additional protection of the OFV for Excel while still protecting the other Office applications.

Office File Validation block work in our company. We have 800 users, with 600 of them work with MS Office 2003. All of them can not work because opening a file over the network takes 30 minutes. All modifications to the registry, which I saw on the Internet are not applicable. We are in a domain with active directory and the user has no rights in this part of the register. Tell me how to "get rid" of the Office File Validation?

Method 3 is not very helpful Method 3: To use Excel 2003 and avoid the network performance issue, you can disable the Microsoft Office File Validation Add-in for Excel by removing the Excel portion of the OFV. This removes the additional protection of the OFV for Excel while still protecting the other Office applications. How exactly is that done?
