Picture Services - Using the syndication and RESTful capabilities of WCF TO share your pictures AND INFO
The team has been at it again!!! They have build a pretty cool sample which allows you to return pictures or other information you require from your PC or a service in a RESTful way using RSS or ATOM.
Although this is version 1.0 of the sample, the plan is to integrate this with Biztalk Services, so you can access all this information in a secure way and navigate the NAT or firewall to the computer. Justin in the team already showed this feature at TechED in Australia which got a lot of interest.
The sample does the following things ( all with an extensible architecture )
- Exposes syndication feeds in both RSS and ATOM format using WCF 3.5
- Builds RESTful services using WCF and UriTemplates
- Load and process an RSS or ATOM feed from another site using the System.Syndication APIs
- Include enclosures within an RSS feed using the System.Syndication APIs
- Integrate with Windows Desktop Search
- Retrieve custom metadata from the file system including ratings and tags
