Windows 7 RC reveals 100% application compatibility
“I want to upgrade by one of the programs I use doesn’t work on Windows 7.”
“I upgraded to Windows 7, but one of my applications doesn’t work”
Are these the statements you mutter under your breath, twitter about, or shout loudly at those around you? Windows 7 RC is attempting to solve this problem for you with the introduction of Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC Betas. The RC will come with Betas of both these products to support applications that run on XP. That means it provides 100% application compatibility!
In a nutshell, XP Mode will allow you to install an application in XP mode and it will run on Windows 7. It provides an XP environment for running applications, however, these applications are available through the standard Win7 interfaces like Task Bar and Docking.
Here are the full details as revealed by Scott Woodgate, director of Desktop Virtualization and Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) at Microsoft.
