Announcing DaRT 7 - Sign up for the BETA today!
Today at MMS, we annouced that we will release a new version of the Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (DaRT). DaRT 7 will be part of MDOP and will be released in Q3 of calendar year 2011.
DaRT 7 is the next generation of this popular product that is built to help drive the cost to support Windows based PCs even lower. DaRT 7.0 will speed up recovery and provide IT organizations with more flexible ways to deploy it.
Remote diagnostics and recovery
- Software based remoting means IT Admins and their helpdesk staff can securely diagnose and recover PCs with the DaRT tools without ever visiting the user’s PC
Flexible deployment options
- Deploy DaRT via network boot, USB, CD, DVD, or to the local recovery partition
- Choose the right deployment option, or combination of options, to fit the needs of your customer’s organization
Increased Customization
- Create DaRT images that restrict end-user access to DaRT tools while making these same tools available to Helpdesk and IT staff
More information can be found on the Springboard blog where I sat down with Stephen Rose for a discussion about the upcoming release.
Customer can sign up today for the DaRT 7 public BETA that will be released in early April.

If you want MDOP-DaRT RTM, subscribe to TechNet, perhaps when there's a promotional discount being offered. MSDN is too expensive for me now, but TechNet has paid for itself many times over.
