I am pleased to announce the retail availability of Office for Mac 2011, starting today. This release marks the latest step in providing the best productivity experience across the PC, phone, and browser. This is an important accomplishment on many levels, not the least of which is that it releases only 5 months after the Office 2010 launch.

For more than 25 years, Office for Mac has been the most compatible, familiar and professional suite of productivity tools available for the Mac, and today it is the product of choice for more than three quarters of Mac users. The Office for Mac 2011 release builds on this strong legacy and provides the highest ever level of consistency with its Windows counterpart, Office 2010, including the Ribbon, Sparklines, and Broadcast Slideshow.

Microsoft Outlook for Mac.

Customers are going to love the new Outlook for Mac, which replaces Entourage in Office for Mac 2011. Developed using the Exchange Web Services protocol, Mac customers will now be able to enjoy great Outlook and Exchange experiences.

SkyDrive and SharePoint Integration.

Customers can access, edit and share files on Office 365, SkyDrive and SharePoint right from within Office for Mac 2011 applications.

Visual Basic Support. This release adds the latest version of Visual Basic (6.5), the same version as in Office 2010. This provides Mac customers with the much requested ability to develop and share macro-enabled Office documents with their Windows-based colleagues.
