Download the Windows SDK .NET Framework 3.0 Samples

You can download the Windows SDK samples for .NET Framework 3.0 in .zip files without installing the whole Windows Vista SDK

The Windows SDK samples for .NET Framework 3.0 includes samples for .NET Framework 3.0, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, and Cross Technology samples. These samples can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center or are available from within the document set if you install the Windows SDK locally.  Although the SDK is big (it’s jam packed with good  stuff), you can choose to install just the components you want during setup.

Files available in the sample download:

  • CrossTechnologySamples.exe -- 1.7 MB
  • FrameworkSamples.exe -- 4.8 MB
  • Samples_All.exe -- 70.1 MB
  • WCFSamples.exe -- 14.4 MB
  • WFSamples.exe -- 1.4 MB
  • WPFSamples.exe --  48.2 MB

When you download the Windows Presentation Foundation Samples you get all the samples in bulk. This can be convenient, except that when you are looking at an individual sample topic, there's no way for you to know where each sample is in the download you just installed.  The WPF team is working on a way for users to download individual samples from their respective topics.  Until the fix is implemented, the WPF folks have posted a handy file listing all the WPF samples and their locations.

Note: The .NET Framework 3.0 samples contained in these downloads are designed to work on Windows Vista or on Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 SP1 with the .NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Components installed. If you do not have the .NET Framework 3.0 components installed, some samples will not work properly on the down-level operating systems.
