Amazing Day of Announcements for MSFT

Today is day 2 of MMS 2012, April 17th, 2012.  I just can’t believe the number of Announcements that have come out today.

First here at the Keynote at MMS we announced the world wide availability of  System Center 2012. To download the trial go to https://aka.ms/syscntr If you missed the keynote you can watch it here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/new.aspx Brad Anderson published a blog post today that further details the opportunities for IT professionals to accelerate their careers in the era of continuous services and connected devices.

Yesterday we announced on the Windows Blog the SKU’s what Windows 8 will be available. Yes only 3  Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows RT  To see a great chart comparing the differences https://windowsteamblog.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/archive/2012/04/16/announcing-the-windows-8-editions.aspx

Then later in the Keynote today we gave a new name to Windows Server 8 is going to now be known as Windows Server 2012.  If you would like to download the trial version of Server, go here https://aka.ms/win8server   I like the name Server 2012. It makes sure you understand the different between that and Windows 8.  Windows Server 8 just didn’t make it clear. It will take me a little while to stop saying Server 8, just like in 2000 I said NT 5 for a while Smile
