WAPTrace: Simple tracing for Windows Azure Pack

Current Version: v1.4

Now traces Service Provider Foundation (SPF)!

WAPTrace is a PowerShell script that not only captures WAP Debug and Operational event logs, it checks your system and recommends the best of three trace types. Run the tool on multiple WAP systems at once to get more information on your issue. The script performs these actions:

  • Stops all WAP Debug event logs if running (Default is not running)
  • Backups up all existing Debug event logs to a date-time stamped folder
  • Clears Debug WAP logs to prepare for a new trace
  • Tells you what WAP components you have installed on your system
  • Makes a trace recommendation
  • Stops logs, exports Debug and Operational event logs with metadata for event descriptions
  • Zips everything up for you and opens the containing folder

That’s about as easy as I could make it. ;) You have essentially one decision to make despite so many WAP components.

Start – Unblock and Right Click to Runimage

  1. Download and save WAPTrace.ps1
  2. Right click on the script and choose Properties
  3. Click ‘Unblock’ button at bottom right of window
  4. Right-click the script and select ‘Run with PowerShell’
  5. The script will prompt for elevation automatically

Execute
Follow the on screen prompts to learn what is being performed and where data is backed up.
