VSTO Outook and Tech Ed 2005
It's been exhilarating and tiring to be at Tech Ed. Between Monday morning and when I went to bed last night I had only 6 hours of sleep (and no caffeine!). Nevertheless, the attendees make it all worthwhile. They get me very jazzed, and I loved delivering my sessions. Their enthusiasm for the Outlook add-in support blew me away. I think that the product will entice many companies and consultants to dive into Outlook development for the first time.
Sue Mosher was in my session today, and she is way cool. My WordProcessingML session on Tuesday was a roaring success thanks to some great attendees. They were really into it (and it was at 8:30AM!). I can't wait for PDC.
I worked the booth for hours and hours fielding all sorts of questions. It's always great to hear what people are doing with the products we put out there. Charles Maxson and John Peltonen from 3Sharp were with us at a Cabana session about XML. These are more informal than a regular session, so people have more time to share ideas and get our take on things.
We had a "restaurant malfunction" on Tuesday night that landed some of the usual suspects and me on some street with boarded-up shops and one club that I was sure I wanted nothing to do with. The Microsoft colleague who suggested that area was most apologetic. The good news is that we made it back to convention center area for fine food at Antonio's. Best fetuccini alfredo I've ever had.
Rock Thought for the Day: I was willing to fall in with Fall Out Boy, a group of four from Chicago. Their song titles alone make them worth checking out. Like the first song: "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued". They sound like guys that don't want to "sell out", but the songs are all very commerical. If they have an indie pedigree, they are hiding it well. While the songs are solid and likeable, they are not terribly memorable. There's too much of this type of stuff already on the radio. They could take a cue from My Chemical Romance.
Rock On

I must admit to being more impressed for it. I've even recommended it to all my friends. - Anonymous
