Fixing links in Office 2003 Documents

It is common for companies to have loads and loads of documents stored up. It is equally common for documents to contain hyperlinks. But, as we all know, hyperlinks change about as quickly as Courtney Hole's excuses for drug possession. So, you end up with documents whose links are bogus, and it creates confusion in your company. I started creating a little add-in that goes through the links in a document and checks them out. It also lets you change ones that are bad via a little winform UI. I plan to still finish it, but I found out about a nifty app that may do some of the same things.

So, I had surgery last week to remove my first rib on the left side (front to back). I am now officially very, very sore. Sore.

I asked the docs if I could keep the removed rib. They said I couldn't because it is a "bio hazard". Uh...didn't it just come out of my chest after serving me faithfully for most of my life? I more toxic than I knew!

Rock Thought for the Day: I picked up MOJO magzine because it had a full feature about John Bonham, drummer for Led Zep. I was hoping to read through it, but I was too hazy in the hospital. Hopefully, I'll get to it today. Looks like the next issue is about the Ramones. It's about time!

Rock On

That sounds like it would make a person very sore. I had bruised ribs, and that was painful, but to have one removed is way more.

Saw your presentation at the office develepers conference. You were the highlight of the show. Get better, thanks for the continuing good info.

    Hal,

Good jokes, actually! They wouldn't let me keep the rib (bio hazard, believe it or not), and I was lucky to find an amazing woman who puts up with me.

I think using VBA to do what you want with the messages is a good idea. This is where VBA can really shine. It's quick, simple, and it gets the job done.

Hello and good day. Forgive my intrusion, but I am having a peculiar problem with FP 03 and desperately seeking assistance with it. I'm running XP SP2 with all available updates installed, and the raw FP 03 install. The problem is thus: When I place graphic links (GIF, JPB, etc) on my Links page, they work fine. When I attempt to use a graphic banner with a URL in it, it shows up fine in Design and Preview modes, but nothing shows up on the page on the web. (IE 6.0) It completely erases any hint of a link online. FP Server Extensions are installed on the server, I've tried simply placing the files up via FTP, as well as publishing it. Same results. Are you familiar with this problem, and more importantly, do you have any idea how to fix it? Thank you very much for your time, Michael
