UK Next Gen Usergroup
The guys from the "Next Gen Usergroup" (NxtGenUG) have been doing some innovative stuff for quite a while now, with a special talent for tracking down senior Microsoft execs and pointing a camera in their faces. For example, I'll never forget the time they managed to squeeze a video out of Steve Ballmer. If you want to catch up with their thoughts and interviews on a regular basis take a look at their regular podcast "radio style" series at http://www.nxtgenug.net/Podcasts.aspx.
And now they tell me that they're extending further by covering a new region of the UK: Cambridge. And they've managed to get hold of the Microsoft Research Centre as a venue for their meetings - cool!
They'll be launching this new region on Tuesday 18th September featuring a talk from my colleague Mike Ormond on Silverlight, and a speaker from Microsoft Research talking about F#. And, so they tell me, they're be "other stuff" too, probably involving swag (for the uninitiated, 'swag' is reported to stand for "software and goods" but generally translates to freebies and giveaways).
Sounds like a good event. You can register for the event for free at http://www.nxtgenug.net/ and check out http://www.nxtgenug.net/EventList.aspx for a list of upcoming events in the region.

Thanks Chris, not sure what happened there - apart from me doing something stupid presumably :-)
