Online version of Official Windows Vista Magazine
Future Publishing have just sent me the link to their online version of the Official Windows Vista Magazine, running as an XBAP in WPF: http://wpf.windowsvistamagazine.co.uk/ttpdownload/browserapp.xbap
If you're running Windows Vista this will just work without you having to do anything else. Well, it did for me :-).
If you're on XP it requires the .NET Framework 3.0.
The technology on display is pretty cool and was used in the fantastic British Library app "turning the pages". See http://ttpdownload.bl.uk/ to witness this incredible app that allows you to see and interact with rare an precious books. When I used the British Library site to look at Da Vinci's codex, and Jane Austin's "History of England" the hair actually stood up on the back of my neck. It was an up-close-and-personal experience with treasures that I would never otherwise get to see.
It's kind of interesting to see the same technology used for both ancient books and the latest magazine....

Not surprisingly, on XP it requires IE7, rather than Firefox to show the app. In Firefox it asks which app to use to open it (defaults to Windows Presentation Foundation something - text gets cut off!) which if you select it, a new window opens, with a different file location but the same option, accept and it does it again.... In IE7 it just works. :) Sadly very slowly on my XP laptop - have to see what it's like on my Vista machine at home.Anonymous

Hi David, This is XBAP (XML Browser Application) technology. Currently XAML and XBAP work in any browser that supports the WebBrowser control. That means IE6 and IE7, Netscape in IE mode, Maxthon. If you install the IETab plug-in for Firefox, you can launch XAML/XBAP in a new IETab there as well. I agree that the experience on Windows Vista with IE7 is better though.Anonymous

T.H - you can adjust the tilt by holding the shift key and dragging with the mouse. Here's a summary of the controls you can use: Shift + mouse: Tilt Control + mouse: Move Mouse wheel: ZoomAnonymous

I have both WPF and the latest version of .net 3 Framework, IE 7.0 and Firefox 2.0.0.1 running on XP Pro. When I click on the link(s)above I have it set to open in IE 7.0 (it does) and the download fails with: "There is a problem with how the application was built or published. Contact the application publisher for assistance." Any ideas sir?Anonymous

They don't offer any info on how to contact any of the editorial folks at the magazine. Is it that they don't want to hear? I don't think endless blogs are a substitute for direct communication with editorial personnel.
