Speaking at Borcon, I mean Devcon, what would you like to see?

Microsoft is sponsoring Borlands annual conference again and I have been asked to do a session of SQL Server 2005 for developers.

I’ve covered a variety of stuff in the past on the topic. So I will open up for ideas. Anything that uses .Net 2.0 can be a little challenging as I by default borlands ide does not support it but there is a workaround, so I might do some stuff in C# as well as Delphi and T-SQL this year.

Some ideas I had;

XML (Server and Client),

Encryption,

CacheSync,

New LOB types,

Service Broker,

Reporting Services,

Integration Services,

SQL Native Client

 

You’ll note that I have not mentioned SQLCLR in the list, I’ve covered it for the last 2 years and Danny Thorpe and I did a keynote demo last year of it and also http endpoints so lots of folks saw that, I can do it if folks are really desperate.

    Why does Microsoft sponsors Borland's conference? I guess I don't know the background or strategy.

    Borland are a key partner in the developer tools space, we sponsor several partner conferences including events like VS Live, SQL Live

    Can you please pay some attention to the new multi-generation record version capabilities in MS SQL 2005?
    As far as I know, the idea was implemented 20+years ago in InterBase, and then in MS Exchange, PostgeSQL, InnoDB, etc.
    It looks like MS SQL is “back to the future”?

    I would like to see an example of using Notification Services and Service Broker together in an integrated fashion. We are looking into the possibility of using these two technologies together to build a small scale version of what BizTalk can do, but I can find no examples of their use together.
