Kinect for Windows Runtime v1.0 Template for Windows Embedded Standard 7 Is Now on ECE

Feature updates for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 are now available on ECE. Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 template for Kinect for Windows. This update contains the following applications and out-of-band application templates:

  • Kinect for Windows Runtime v1.0 Template for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1
    • Kinect for Windows Runtime v1.0 Template for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 is a Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 compatible application template and documentation, for use with the Kinect for Windows Runtime v1.0. The compatible application template allows creation of a Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 image that contains the dependencies required to install and use the Kinect for Windows Runtime v1.0. The Kinect for Windows Runtime v1.0 enables rich experiences using the Kinect for Windows sensor.Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1
  • The Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications developed with Visual C++ 2010 SP1 on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2010 SP1 installed.

What Kinect for Windows Provides:

  • The Kinect for Windows commercial program includes new Kinect for Windows hardware and software.
  • The new Kinect for Windows hardware (sensor) includes optimized hardware components and firmware adjustments to better enable device-centric scenarios (for example, shortened USB cable and Near Mode).
  • Kinect for Windows software (SDK and runtime) includes support for Windows 7, Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1, and Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate for Embedded Systems.
  • The Kinect for Windows sensor is scheduled to be available from Microsoft resellers.  A list of resellers is available on the Kinect for Windows website.
  • The Kinect for Windows SDK and runtime is available for download from the Kinect for Windows website.
    • The Kinect for Windows SDK and runtime is available free of cost.
    • The Kinect for Windows runtime license requires the use of the Kinect for Windows sensor.
