Migrate up to 150MB attachments to Exchange Online

Great news effective now we announced that we have upped the attachment migration limit size to 150MB attachments. This migration attachment limit was previously 25MB which caused a lot of attachment mitigation prior to migration if your on prem quota was larger than 25MB. This is an excellent bump in migration attachment size to help avoid attachment mitigation!

This new limit will apply to Exchange migrations as well as IMAP migrations, and other email platforms, etc.  If you also note above – the send/receive attachment limit remains at 25-36MB depending on the client. The good news however is if you look on the Office 365 Roadmap under ‘In Development’ here you will see there are future plans to make the send/receive attachment limit the same quota of 150MB which is also great news!

@joe no mistake the migration limit was just raised and the send/receive limit is going to be raised in the future if you see the roadmap.

Despite attempts to notify users with "large items" prior to their migrations, the 25MB limitation caused problems for a large percentage, resulting in a huge expenditure of additional time to resolve this. This will help greatly. Thank you.

    Hi Mark,

I think Joe brings up a good point. Message size was increased to 150MB; however, attachments in that message are still limited to 25MB. Have you been able to validate otherwise?
    Thanks

@JVasquea - I thought I made it clear in the blog as I said the send/receive limit was still 25-36MB - this is just the ability to migrate 150MB attachments to Exchange Online. In the future they are going to raise the send/receive limit to 150MB as well.

    Hi Mark,
Have you mixed up message size limits and attachment size limits? From reading the announcement and public service description update it appears that while the "Message size limit - migration" has been increased to 150MB but the "File attachment size limit" remains at 25MB.
