I installed KB960714 from the automatic update download without error on my XP Pro SP3 computer without error.  However, the $NTUninstallKB960714 does not appear under c:Windows with the other updates.  Is this a problem?

It could indicate that the hotfix didn't fully install.  You should verify the date/time stamp of MSHTML.DLL to see if the hotfix did indeed get installed to windowssystem32.
