Microsoft periodically releases software updates for SharePoint Server 2016, 2019 and Subscription Edition. The following articles provide information about the software update process for SharePoint Server 2016, 2019 and Subscription Edition.

Important

Microsoft is changing how software updates for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition are packaged beginning with the March 2023 public update, which introduces SharePoint Server Subscription Edition Version 23H1. In this software update, Microsoft will no longer release separate core and language pack software updates each month. Instead, Microsoft will release a single software update each month that will contain all of the changes that previously would have been included in those two separate updates. Going forward, customers will only need to install this single software update each month to be fully up to date with the latest security fixes, bug fixes, and new feature experiences.

Customers will need to continue installing the latest version of the core and language pack software updates each month to ensure they’re fully up to date with the latest security fixes, bug fixes, and new feature experiences.
