Resolve
Check for networking failure events
There is a problem with the remote procedure call (RPC) subsystem. The issue is probably the result of a network configuration or equipment error. As a result, the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) is not able to access the network.
To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
Check Event Viewer for additional messages that are related to network issues, and resolve them as appropriate.
Verify
To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Domain Admins, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To ensure that the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) is able to access the network interface by using a remote procedure call (RPC):
- Open a command prompt as an administrator. To open a command prompt as an administrator, click Start. In Start Search, type Command Prompt. At the top of the Start Menu, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
- At the command prompt, type net accounts, and then press ENTER. If the command output displays account policy settings and the computer role, the RPC network initialization was successful.
