Remove a Tracing Rule for Failed Requests (IIS 7)

Remove a tracing rule for a failed request when you no longer are required to trace a specific request failure. You can remove a tracing rule for a failed request at a local level or you can remove a failed request tracing rule that is inherited from a parent level.
Note
Removing a configuration setting removes the setting at the local level and from any child levels that inherit the setting.

To remove a tracing rule for failed requests
You can perform this procedure by using the user interface (UI), by running Appcmd.exe commands in a command-line window, by editing configuration files directly, or by writing WMI scripts.
User Interface
To Use the UI
Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7).
In Features View, double-click Failed Request Tracing Rules.
On the Failed Request Tracing Rules page, click to select the tracing rule you want to delete.
In the Actions pane, click Remove, and then click Yes.
Command-line
To remove a tracing rule for failed requests, use the following syntax:
appcmd configure trace "URL" /disable /path:*|*.aspx|*.asp|custom
The variable URL is the URL for the file that you want to trace. The variable path *|*.aspx|*.asp|custom sets the content you want to trace. For example, to remove a failed request tracing rule that logs requests to an ASP.NET page for a site named Contoso, type the following at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:
appcmd configure trace "Contoso/ " /disable /path:*.aspx
