Modifying ATM defaults

When you install an ATM adapter on computers running Windows Server 2003 operating systems, the default LAN emulation client configuration for ATM services is automatically installed. The LAN emulation client is preconfigured to use the following default emulated LAN (ELAN) group name:

<unspecified ELAN name>

The unspecified_ELAN_name is configured for use with Windows ATM services and by other vendors of ATM switching products. It enables simplified configuration of the ATM LAN emulation client service provided with computers running Windows Server 2003 operating systems, with ATM switches that might be providing LAN emulation services for your network.

Where the unspecified ELAN name is not currently configured or supported by default by other ATM hardware products (such as other switches used on your network), you can do one of the following:

  • Add another supported ELAN name to the list maintained here.

  • Configure the unspecified ELAN name on your ATM switches that provide LAN emulation service to your network.

For more information about changing the settings of your LAN emulation client, see Configure a LAN emulation client.
