Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

  1. Open Group Policy Management.

  2. In the console tree, double-click the forest containing the domain, site, or organizational unit containing the Group Policy object (GPO) link that you want to disable, and then do one of the following:

    • To disable a GPO link to a domain, double-click Domains, and then double-click the domain containing the GPO link.

    • To disable a GPO link to an organizational unit, double-click Domains, double-click the domain containing the organizational unit, and then double-click the organizational unit (including any parent or child organizational unit) containing the GPO link.

    • To disable a GPO link to a site, double-click Sites, and double-click the site containing the GPO link.

  3. Right-click the GPO link. A check mark next to Link Enabled indicates that the link is currently enabled.

  4. Click Link Enabled to remove the check mark and disable the link.

Notes

  • You must have Link GPOs permission for the domain, site, or organizational unit containing the GPO link to complete this procedure. If you do not have Link GPOs permission, Link Enabled is unavailable.

  • To determine whether a GPO link is enabled, you can also click the GPO link and look at the information in the Links section of the Scope tab.

  • You can also disable a GPO link by clicking on the GPO link in the console tree, right-clicking the link under Links on the Scope tab in the results pane, clicking Link Enabled to enable or disable the link, and then clicking OK.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
