Notes

  • To open Device Manager, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, double-click Computer Management, and then click Device Manager.

  • If you are prompted to restart the computer, the device will not be removed and will continue to function until the computer is restarted.

  • You do not usually need to use Device Manager to uninstall a Plug and Play device. Simply disconnect the Plug and Play device from your computer. You might have to restart your computer, however, depending on the type of device. Check the device manufacturer's instructions for more information.

  • Uninstalling a device does not remove the device drivers from your computer's hard disk.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
