Increase the starting version count

To increase the starting version count
Open WINS.
In the console tree, click the applicable WINS server.
Where?
- WINS/applicable WINS server
On the Action menu, click Properties.
Click the Advanced tab.
For Starting version ID (hexadecimal), enter a new number to be used by WINS as the new starting version ID when WINS is next restarted.
Notes
To open WINS, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click WINS.
Because a higher version ID is used by WINS during replication to determine between two servers storing the same record which version is more recent, increasing the starting version ID count can be useful in some cases where you are attempting to affect a forced update and replication of names between servers. If you enter a number that is less than the actual value of the highest version ID currently in use by the selected server, WINS might increase the actual number used for its start version count when service is restarted.
