Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open Performance, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Performance.

  • You can also change the display by clicking the View Log Data button to open the System Monitor Properties dialog box. Click the General tab, and use the View setting to specify your display preference.

  • Graph view displays counter data over a given time period in line graph format. The histogram view displays counter data in bar chart format, showing only a single value per counter instance. Report view displays counter data in table format, also showing only a single value per counter instance. In report view, counter names and data values appear in rows beneath their associated performance objects, and a separate column displays each instance and its data.

  • For both the histogram and report views, choosing average, minimum, or maximum statistics causes the statistic to be calculated at each sample interval. This incurs some additional performance overhead for realtime data only.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
