Pause or resume an outgoing queue

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To pause or resume an outgoing queue

  1. Open Computer Management.

  2. In the console tree, right-click the applicable queue.

    Where?

    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Message Queuing/Outgoing Queues/YourOutgoingQueue
  3. Point to All Tasks.

  4. Click Pause. Or, to resume the operation of the queue, click Resume.

Notes

  • To open Computer Management, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.

  • When you pause the operation of an outgoing queue, you postpone the sending of messages from that queue to the corresponding destination queue. This way, you can send all pending messages to a destination queue at a later time.

  • You can also pause the operation of all outgoing queues by taking Message Queuing offline from the network. For more information, see Related Topics.

  • The icons of outgoing queues that are offline are marked by an X on a circular red background in the Computer Management console tree.

  • This task can be performed only by using the Computer Management snap-in.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
