Bypassing the Proxy Server (Windows CE 5.0)

Send Feedback

If you have a proxy server on the public side of the gateway you may have a problem connecting to the gateway to launch the network administration Web page. To locate the gateway, you must turn off the proxy settings on the client while you browse to the gateway. When you turn off the proxy settings, you will not be able to browse to external Web sites.

Alternately, you can bypass the proxy server for addresses in the appropriate range that is set for the client. This allows you to browse the external Web sites and browse the gateway at the same time.

To bypass the proxy for a specific address range

  1. In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.

  2. On the Connections tab, choose LAN Settings.

  3. Verify that the Automatically detect settings check box is cleared.

  4. Select the Use a proxy sever for your LAN check box.

  5. In the Address box, type the proxy server address.

  6. In the Port box, type 80.

  7. Select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box.

  8. Choose Advanced.

  9. In the Exceptions box, type the gateway IP address.

If you used the procedure in Configuring the Gateway Registry topic, the gateway IP address is 192.168.1.1.

  10. To close the Proxy Settings dialog box, choose OK.

  11. To close the Local Area Network (LAN)Settings dialog box, choose OK.

  12. To close the Internet Options dialog box, choose OK.
