Migrating a Gateway (Windows CE 5.0)

Send Feedback

The Gateway support in Windows CE 5.0 has been greatly expanded from the Gateway support in Windows CE 4.2. A user interacting with the Gateway UI will notice a significant amount of additional functionality — such as Parental Controls — and a more refined UI. The name of the gateway UI has been changed from admin2.dll to remoteadmin.dll.

For Windows CE 5.0, the location of some of the Catalog items that are included in a Gateway OS design has changed. The following table shows these changes.

Catalog Item Location in 4.2 Location in 5.0
Sample UPnP IGD Schema Implementation Communication Services and Networking\Networking Features\Internet Connection Sharing Communication Services and Networking\Networking Features\Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)
Reference Gateway User Interface Shell and User Interface\Web-based User Interface Communication Services and Networking\Networking Features

SYSGEN_REMOTEADMIN does not exist in Windows CE 5.0. To migrate an OS design that uses SYSGEN_REMOTEADMIN to Windows CE 5.0, define SYSGEN_REMOTECONFIG_FRAMEWORK.
