OID_DOT11_CURRENT_REG_DOMAIN (Compact 2013)

3/26/2014

When queried, this OID requests that the miniport driver return the IEEE 802.11 dot11CurrentRegDomain management information base (MIB) object.

This MIB object defines the current regulatory domain that is used by the physical media dependent (PMD) sublayer of the current PHY type on the 802.11 station.

The data type for this OID is a ULONG value. The following table lists the values of the regulatory domains defined for the dot11CurrentRegDomain MIB object.

The miniport driver, operating in Extensible Station (ExtSTA) mode, must support the OID_DOT11_CURRENT_REG_DOMAIN for query requests only. In this operating mode, the current regulatory domain is changed through a set request of OID_DOT11_DESIRED_COUNTRY_OR_REGION_STRING.

The 802.11 station is defined to be operating in a default regulatory domain whenever the miniport driver sets the value of the dot11CurrentRegDomain MIB object to any value except DOT11_REG_DOMAIN_OTHER through one of the following:

  • A call to the driver’s MiniportInitializeEx function. In this situation, the driver can set the dot11CurrentRegDomain MIB object to a default regulatory domain based on configuration parameters from the system registry.
  • A method request of OID_DOT11_RESET_REQUEST. In this situation, the driver can restore the dot11CurrentRegDomain MIB object to its initialization value.
  • A set request of OID_DOT11_DESIRED_COUNTRY_OR_REGION_STRING.
