The following table shows the Unicode functions with a description of the purpose of each.

| IsDBCSLeadByte | This function determines whether a character is a lead byte. |
| IsDBCSLeadByteEx | This function determines whether a character is a lead byte, or the first byte of a character in a double-byte character set (DBCS). |
| MultiByteToWideChar | This function maps a character string to a wide-character (Unicode) string. |
| TranslateCharsetInfo | This function translates based on the specified character set, code page, or font signature value, setting all members of the destination structure to appropriate values. |
| WideCharToMultiByte | This function maps a wide-character string to a new character string. |
